Fantasia Family Music Policies
To ensure that our program meets the expectations of both our cast members and the staff we have created policies which all cast members, clients, students and attendees of Fantasia’s Programs must honor and abide at all times. These policies are aimed at creating a safe and welcoming environment where all involved are comfortable taking artistic risks and getting as much as one possibly can from the curriculum and opportunities we provide.
Enrollment Policies
-
Students are expected to be at every rehearsal during a show run. While we understand that there are conflicts that arise, students/families must complete Fantasia’s conflict calendar, notating every rehearsal, and/or part of a rehearsal that would be missed due to an upcoming conflict.
-
Failure to attend rehearsals, without previously notating it on the conflict calendar may result in a) Loss of role, and/or participation in various scenes, dances and on-stage opportunities, b) Mandatory attendance of additional classes/make up rehearsals at Fantasia’s studio, c) Removal from the show, without refund or consideration thereof.
-
All clients/cast member’s tuition must be paid upon posted payment dates, unless other arrangements have been made with the administration of Fantasia. Failure to complete on-time payment, will incur a 20% late charge, and/or will result in removal from the cast, without refund.
-
Dropping/withdrawing from the show will result in the forfeit of full tuition, if the cast member withdraws any later than the second scheduled rehearsal date. If a cast member elects to withdraw by, and/or after the second scheduled rehearsal date a 50% refund will be granted, but withdrawal notification must be given within 24 hours of the end of the second scheduled rehearsal.
-
Discounts must be applied at the time full tuition is paid, and by the deadline set for the discount. Zero discounts will be applied to tuition if either of these criteria are not met in their entirety.
-
Withdrawing from a cast or show run due to unhappiness in regard to casting may result in a permanent ban from enrolling in future performance opportunities with Fantasia Family Music.
Rehearsal Policies
-
Again, cast members are expected to attend ALL rehearsals- unless previously notated on conflict calendar. Unexcused absences and missing more than 2 total rehearsals may result in recasting, forfeit of participation in scenes, and choreography and/or mandatory make up sessions/attendance at one of the Triple Threat classes.
-
Students are to arrive on-time, and are considered late/absent if they miss large portions of rehearsal without prior notification via the conflict calendar. Chronic tardiness and missing large amounts of rehearsals may lead to the same consequences as an unexcused absence. If students are running late, or have uncontrollable unexcused absences, Fantasia’s staff needs to be notified ASAP.
-
Bullying, verbal sparring, cliquiness, and general drama creating attitudes/students will not be tolerated in rehearsal. We strive to create an inclusive and welcoming environment and students/cast members are expected to do the same.
-
No food shall be eaten on the dance floor. No gum chewing or candy during rehearsal.
-
Respect shall be given to all directors, producers, choreographers, and teaching artists at all times. Talking back, undermining authority, or creating a contentious situation will not be tolerated.
-
Students are responsible for their mess. Snacks need to be thrown away by students, any outside food brought in, needs to be disposed of properly. Any spills, larger messes, or damage to the studio or the contents therein needs to be reported to Fantasia staff ASAP.
-
No cellphone use during rehearsal. Phones will be put in the ‘phone basket’ at the start of rehearsal. If a phone ever becomes a big distraction it may need to be picked up after rehearsal, by a parent/guardian.
-
Parents/guardians (as well as siblings) are asked to wait outside for rehearsal to finish and to pick up their student/cast member.
Dress Code Policies
-
Dance shoes need to be worn during all rehearsals, and especially when using the dance floor for any activity or learning of choreography.
-
Open toe shoes should not be worn for rehearsal at any time, which includes Crocs (even in sport mode).
-
Appropriate clothing must be worn at all times. Students need to be able to move comfortably, jumping, rolling, dancing, getting up and down off the ground quickly and clothing choices that prevent movement, or reveal too much should not be worn in the studio.
-
Female cast members should have, and/or need to purchase a leotard, bike shorts and/or a supportive elastic top to wear for dress rehearsal and the 4 show performances. This needs to be worn underneath costumes and to ensure we can mic students and that they can ‘quick change’ offstage if/when needed.
